Leonardo Sciascia’s vast production is crossed by a lucid and bitter tale of the relationship between justice and power: justice’s impotence in facing the iniquity of power that is raging against the weak and the just. However, this painful reflection should not be understood as a cynical or moralizing exercise but as a work of investigation about law in its most authentic sense and its main goal: the justice. In particular, as human experience does not attain justice, Sciascia seems not only convinced that rule of laws is necessary in order to mediate and settle human judgment, but also that in the culture field in which rule of laws will take shape, a pivotal part should be played by literature.

Abstract
Leonardo Sciascia’s vast production is crossed by a lucid and bitter tale of the relationship between justice and power: justice’s impotence in facing the iniquity of power that is raging against the weak and the just. However, this painful reflection should not be understood as a cynical or moralizing exercise but as a work of investigation about law in its most authentic sense and its main goal: the justice. In particular, as human experience does not attain justice, Sciascia seems not only convinced that rule of laws is necessary in order to mediate and settle human judgment, but also that in the culture field in which rule of laws will take shape, a pivotal part should be played by literature.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
